1. Not much information available on Joey. Maybe that’s why he only had offers from MAC schools.

  2. 6’1″, 247. Is there any chance these measurables are wrong? A 6’1″ doesn’t really sound impressive. Is he possibly going to play one of the four linebacker positions instead?

I can’t see him as a down lineman in the 3-4 defense. Offensive linemen would eat him alive. Facing offensive tackles that typically go 6’6″ or better and 320 wouldn’t have much trouble in drive blocking him down field.

He appears to me to be more of an inside linebacker in the 3-4 because of his weight. Outside linebackers in the 3-4 are typically taller.

  3. I don’t know where you’re getting 6’1″, I’ve either seen 6’3 or 6’4

Plus, he’ll most likely put on significant weight. Even among the top rated DEs, the average weight before their Sr year is in the 230s. Current the 12th rated weakside DE on 247 sports is 6’2 218. Why are you expecting NFL measurables from a HS Jr.

  4. His height as listed on Rivals is 6’1″, that’s where I saw the original announcement of his verbal.

Weight wise he is solid, it was just the height as listed on Rivals that made me question if he was going to be playing with his hand in the dirt or was being considered an inside linebacker as his measureables are ideal.

If he truly is in the 6’3″/6’4″ range that is more than adequate for a DE in Knorr’s 3-4 defense. His Wake Forest DL played two DE’s that were 6’4″ and 6’5″, and a NT that was 5’11”. His four linebackers went 6’1″, 6’1″, 6’2″ and 6’4″.

It will be a year before he makes it to campus and he definitely has time to grow.

  5. Shayon Green is 6’1″. Pretty sure he was just drafted by the Miami Dolphins at Defensive End.
Judging him over 1 or 2 inches? Are you for real?

  6. Knorr’s NT was also just 250 lbs, you don’t need the “ideal” measurements to be productive, you work with what you have.

  7. Exactly PB. All that matters is what you can do on the field. Measurments are highly over rated.

  8. Waitingfortwins,

Don’t worry I along with most rational people understand what you were saying. I think you guys were a little harsh on him, he wasn’t judging the kid or doubting him because of his height… He was just speculating on which position he would play. BTW Freeney played end in a 4-3 not a 3-4 big difference and same with Mathis, DE in a 4-3, OLB in a 3-4.
