Danny Cameron commits to IU

Per a text from former Indiana coach Cam Cameron to the Herald-Times’ Andy Graham, Cameron’s son Danny, a quarterback at Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, La., has committed to Indiana on a full scholarship and will be eligible for the 2014 season. More to come.

  1. Talk about respect for a HC and his staff, the family Cameron have it in spades.

  2. Did he not have an opportunity to play for his Dad at LSU? Not complaining, and I’m glad he selected his Dad’s alma mater, but it’s not unusual for a son to play for his father at the college level. Then again, maybe his Dad is not planning on being at LSU much longer. Interesting, but welcome to IU Danny. We’re glad to have you.

  3. Danny is joining IU for the 2014 season. He was the back-up to a three-year starter last year in High School, but started a number of games when the #1 went down with injury. He did well in those games. He had no other offers, tried to extend is High School career, was not successful, and was considering going to prep school for a year she a spot opened up at IU. I guess transferring from Maryland was kind of disruptive to his High School athletic career. He also played free safety.

This according to a variety of newspaper stories.

  4. Andy Graham,

I just read your article about the camp day Danny and his Dad, Cam spent at IU. Good job and a fine write-up for any IU fan. Your story reinforced my perception the FB program is in good hands. Obviously something Cam very much wanted to find during the visit and Danny recognized during his participation. I do have positive thoughts about young Cameron’s performance in C&C whether on offense or defense.
