Ridiculously early IU bowl projections: All the Little Caesars you can stomach

I hope you kept the receipt on that flight to Shreveport.

Louisiana was just one of the possible destinations for Indiana football if you believed the national bowl prognosticators last week after the Missouri win.

This week, the list has been trimmed down to one.

Over at SB Nation, they’re projecting an IU-North Carolina matchup in the Quick Lane Bowl on Dec. 26 at Ford Field.

That projection, however, is one of the only ones for IU football.

BTN’s Tom Dienhart still doesn’t think Indiana is poised for December football, saying last week’s loss to Maryland was a costly ones for IU’s bowl hopes.

The folks over at ESPN, USA Today and CBS Sports are also skeptical about Indiana’s odds for a bowl bid.

Yes, as noted, these are ridiculously early projections. Even after the Maryland loss, the season is very much alive and active for the Hoosiers. Provided they don’t slip up this weekend against North Texas, it’s not too difficult to find three more wins over the final seven games.

We’ll see what happens, and we’ll keep checking in around the country to see where you might be spending your holiday break with the IU football team.

  1. Please omit all bowl discussions until Thanksgiving weekend plus 7 win season or omit entirely if not 7 games. Thank You.

  2. Agree completely! This program including players, coaches and fans just need to focus on getting wins. Forget about bowl predictions and fancy helmets. Just play the game!
