Hoosier Morning

New Orleans coach Mark Slessinger is a Bloomington native and Edgewood grad, forcing his mom, an Assembly Hall usher, to switch allegiances for tonight, Mike writes.

Troy Williams’ stock is suddenly on the rose as he becomes more aware of the game and his potential, I wrote.

From Saturday’s game, Indiana has beaten higher-ranked teams, even better teams, but hasn’t had a more significant win than the one over Butler in the past two seasons, I wrote.

IU freshman diver Jessica Parratto won her second gold medal at the USA Championships Sunday, we reported.

Saturday’s win over Butler will quiet the noise regarding Brad Stevens potentially replacing Tom Crean at Indiana, Gregg Doyel of the Indianapolis Star writes.

Brad Stevens says he’s in it for the long haul with the Celtics, and Tom Crean doesn’t deserve the speculation about his future at IU, Paul Flannery of SBNation.com writes.

Indiana showed signs of the toughness needed in the Big Ten with the win over Butler, Pete DiPrimio of the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel writes.

The Hoosiers are arguably the nation’s most watchable team, Eamonn Brennan of ESPN.com writes.

IU women’s basketball freshman Tyra Buss was big enough to exceed a Hoosier legend at Mt. Carmel and is big enough to take on the Big Ten, Graham Hays of ESPN.com writes.

One-time IU football QB target Chad Kelly was arrested after an incident in Buffalo over the weekend, Joseph Popiolkowski of the Buffalo News writes.

  1. as i sit here reading brad stevens’ quotes i am thinking: here is a man who is thoughtful, intelligent, and has a full grasp of the english language. all in stark contrast to rev. crean and his never ending gibberish

  2. Let’s stop with the low blows directed at Crean. It’s fair game to criticize his coaching tactics and performance, but personal attacks are just downright mean-spireted. And to think I got called a “terrorist” for suggesting our football team’s previous Defensive Coordinator to be fired! (Where’s the outrage, Tsao?)

Regarding the bigger point, let’s listen to the hero Brad Stevens and put a stop to all this speculative BS about him replacing Crean. Stevens is a smart and classy guy, and he made it clear that people should stop the inappropriate rumors and speculation, and that Crean does not deserve such inappropriate treatment. For all those Hoosier fans who hold Stevens in such high regard, and who “entertain” themselves while fantasizing about him becoming IU’s basketball coach, you should respect and follow Stevens’ advice. You can look at the cover of Sports Illustrated’s Swim Suite edition and fantasize about dating the women on the cover, but that’s never going to happen either.

  3. crean’s lack of intelligence is directly related to his poor coaching, so it is fair game. his gibberish news conferences make my head spin and my ears trickle blood so it is fair game. he is being made one of the richest men in america with a multi-million dollar salary he has not earned, so he is fair game. lastly, he uses his position as a religious pulpit to propagate the myth of a supreme being controlling all destiny, a gross violation of separation of church and state laws, so he is fair game.

po, is making fun of your spelling fair game?

  4. Here are the 3-on-3 groupings for tonight’s game…

Sorry it’s late but I’ve been out with the Fam all day doing Christmas stuff.

Group 1 (pick1): Yogi, Troy, JBJ
Group 2 (pick 1): Colin, Hanner, Robert
Group 3 (pick 1): Nick, Holt, Max, Stan

I’ll get back to you with the winners from Butler’s game and this game tomorrow.

  5. It’s like a nightmare… Off to a great start with the yoga pants… And then you follow down and see a pair of fluffy fuzzy elf slippers… Just happened again. Is this happening in other parts of the country too?

  6. coachv, my spelling errors are fair game. Sometimes I’m in a hurry and don’t have time to proof read my comments.

So you’re an expert on human intelligence too! Wow, that’s impressive. Isn’t it amazing how someone so dumb can earn more than $3 million a year and become wealthy? I’ll bet that really rubs a genius like you the wrong way. But what a great country we live in, when a dumb guy like Crean can become wealthy. Funny, Crean seems a little more articulate than Wilson in their respective news conferences, but no one accuses Wilson of lacking intelligence. And while I love Bob Knight, I can remember him making some really stupid comments during countless news conferences during his time at IU.

FYI, making $3 to $5 million per year will never make anyone one of the richest men in America. Crean, while certainly securing financial comfort for the remainder of his life, will never be among the top 1,000 wealthiest people in America. But again, it’s amazing how such a dumb guy could fool Fred Glass and all those really smart and educated IU Trustees into paying him so much money! It appears Crean is as dumb as a fox.

I’m guessing from your last criticism of Crean in post #3 that it is the regular expression of his Christian faith that is the primary cause of your disdain. Are you and Harvard trying to form the Anti Christian/Crean Association? You do understand that your last comment implies that the vast majority of the world’s population is stupid because they believe in “a supreme being?” And as for your claim that Crean is committing “a gross violation of separation of church and state laws,” that comment exposed your own ignorance. I suggest you go back and read some history or speak with a constitutional attorney, cause you’re about as wrong as you can be on that statement.

coach, would it be a wasted gesture if I were to wish you a Merry Christmas?

  7. Why do you even listen to the pressers coachv if they make your head spin? You’re the same guy who said mean things about Tracy Smith’s son. (His wife responded to you, but you never did.). Why do you chop down people on this blog? Considering you live in San Francisco, that says it all. Give coachv a computer and watch how ruthless and powerful he becomes.
