IUWBB: Indiana vs. IPFW

Indiana beat IPFW 80-37 Wednesday night in Assembly Hall with a dominant performance underneath the basket.

The Hoosiers outrebounded the Mastodons 52-28 and scored 52 points in the paint to their opponent’s 18.

Karlee McBride led the Hoosiers with 13 points. Taylor Agler added 11. Amanda Cahill and Jenn Anderson had 10 points apiece.



Indiana will look to protect its home floor against another in-state team, taking on IPFW at 7 p.m.

With 15:24 remaining in the first half, IU has a 12-6 lead on IPFW. Jenn Anderson has contributed on the boards, swatting the ball out to Larryn Brooks after one IU miss, which Brooks took and drove to the basket for a lay-in. Another Anderson o-board ended up in Taylor Agler’s hands. She hit it to make it 12-4.

With 11:59 remaining in the half, Indiana is 6-of-17 from the field (35 percent). The score is 14-8, Indiana. Taylor Agler leads Indiana with 5 points. One positive, the Hoosiers have 5 offensive rebounds.

With 7:44 minutes remaining, IU leads, 26-13. Freshman Jess Walter has come in and given the Hoosiers some valuable minutes. She has dished out two assists and laid the ball in on a drive to make it 24-10.

With 3:23 remaining in the half, IU leads 30-17. Some sloppy offensive play by IU. The Hoosiers are up to six turnovers. Seven of IPFW’s points are off of timeouts.

HALFTIME: Indiana 36, IPFW 22

Larryn Brooks leads the Hoosiers with eight points, but IU is 2-of-10 from beyond the arc. Haley Seibert leads IPFW with eight points, as well. IPFW is shooting 31 percent from the field, while IU has 24 points in the paint and is shooting 47 percent overall.

At 16:51 left in the game, IU leads 40-24. Last bucket a put-back by Jenn Anderson off of a miss by Amanda Cahill.

IU has increased its lead to 54-28 halfway through the second half. Three-pointers from Brooks and Agler.

With 3:39 remaining in the game, IU leads 73-36. IPFW’s offense is shooting at a 28 percent clip. IU has boosted its percentage to 52 percent, 50 points in the paint.
