Poll position
Indiana’s appearance at No. 23 in the Associated Press Top 25 this week marks the 534th week since the poll began in the 1947-48 season that the Hoosiers were nationally ranked. That puts Indiana eighth on the all-time list and is the best mark among all Big Ten programs.

IU is also climbing less conventional charts as well, coming in at No. 32 in both the RPI (Ratings Percentage Index) and Sagarin Ratings, as well as No. 40 according to KenPom.com.

Indiana signees Juwan Morgan and O.G. Anunoby are both slated to play in the Derby Festival Classic at Freedom Hall in Louisville this spring.

The news was first reported by Peegs.com and confirmed on Twitter by Derby Festival Classic recruiting coordinator Mike Gandolfo.

This year’s annual high school all-star game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on April 11 and preceded by the Night of the Future Stars on April 10 at New Albany.

Tickets for the event go on sale Feb. 19 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.

Current Hoosiers Troy Williams, Stan Robinson, Collin Hartman, Devin Davis, Robert Johnson and Max Hoetzel are Derby Festival Classic alums.

  1. Numbers (KenPom).. Not counting most of the pre-conference games, IU has wins against teams currently ranked #20, #21, #33, #75, #94, #96, #113, #173 (Rutgers) and #174. Losses to #10, #18, #22, #25, #57 and #131 (E. Washington). IU ranked at #50. Guess 4 of the losses make sense. Maybe #57 Purdue, an away game . Next five up are #’s 5, 33, 49, 57 and # 80 (Michigan).

Those same games, IU has scored 1129 points against 1125, combined .

Attended Montverde Academy game yesterday. Ben Simmons, ranked #1 high school kid had 26 points. He’s headed to LSU. Last week watched Tavares, Fl., Liberty Christian with 7’6 Tacko Fall. He’s headed to UCF. He has a 7 yr old brother who is 5’9.

I think I know the feeling the IU kids got at Michigan State and Louisville. Walking a trail in the Ocala National forest and a brown bear ran across the trail. Stomach does strange things. Did have my lucky IU cap on..
