Blackmon will play vs. Michigan #iubb

James Blackmon Jr. will play against Michigan, IU coach Tom Crean told CBS Sports on Saturday.

Meeting with reporters in Bloomington, Crean said Blackmon’s injured ankle has improved since hurting it last weekend against Rutgers.

“James has definitely gotten better,” Crean said. “I don’t know if I’d go and say 100 percent, but he’s gotten better.”

Blackmon had started all 22 games for Indiana until sitting for Tuesday’s game at Wisconsin. The freshman guard leads IU with 16.5 points per game and is the second leading rebounder at 5.2 boards per contest.

Crean added that injured forward Hanner Mosquera-Perea is also nearing a return from a knee injury, but could not pinpoint a date. Mosquera-Perea has not played since Jan. 10.

“Hanner’s getting closer,” Crean said. “Hanner has not gone up and down the court yet, as far as full-court scrimmaging and things of that nature, but he’s definitely getting a lot closer. But for me to tell you he’d be ready to go tomorrow, I couldn’t tell you that yet today. But he’s definitely getting closer.”

  1. We don’t need either Blackmon or Hanner to beat Michigan.Michigan is an extremely weak team, simply gave up against Iowa. Nothing to fear tomorrow.

  2. I don’t think it will be so one-sided….It’s not the best of timing to have a visiting team coming in while their blood is boiling and their reputation hungry to be restored due to such a visible embarrassment on a televised home game….

This game is being broadcast on CBS…Michigan will play inspired ball..If their recent poor performance against Iowa encourages our team to take than anything less than serious, we’ll be in for a dog fight likely decided in the final seconds….

  3. How will Indiana fare over the next 3 games (Maryland, Ohio State, Purdue)

Speaking of things possibly on an “agenda”….?

Maybe it’s time to update the Scoop Poll question?

    Possibilities:

What place will IU finish in the Big 10 standings?

What are the odds the spinning globe with players’ faces will ever stop spinning?

How many times per week does Jeremy visit White Castle?

How many losses for the men’s basketball team for the remaining home games?

How many striped shirts does Mike Miller own?

  4. Not to change the subject but did anyone e see the horrible officiating in the MSU/IL game. The refs were trying to assess a technical on a play that happened 2 or 3 plays before a break in the action. It was the only time where I thought that officials were trying to give a team the win. In this case MSU. Crazy.

Prediction: Illinois(men’s team) will win the Big 10 tournament and earn their automatic bid into the NCAA torunament….I couldn’t stand Illinois during the whiny Weber years….Hard to feel that way with the backbone demonstrated by the Illini under Groce…

The refs did everything possible to hand today’s game to the Spartans in East Lansing, but the Illini showed real resiliency and toughness….

.Illini are currently the best team in the BIG…I like them more than Wisconsin to make noise in the dance.. Groce is a hell of a coach..
