Indiana flies past Illinois, 85-58

The shots were falling, and they never stopped, as the Hoosiers topped the Illini, 85-58.

Indiana (14-10, 4-9 Big Ten) shot 55.2 percent from the field, including 13-of-23 from beyond the arc. Amanda Cahill and Larryn Brooks each scored 14 points, and Cahill added 10 rebounds for her first double-double since New Year’s Eve. Karlee McBride added 13 points.

The Hoosiers maintained a single-digit lead for much of the first half, until McBride’s 3-pointer with 7:21 remaining put IU up, 33-23. A Cahill bucket with time running out in the first half made it 44-31 going into the locker room.

The lead just continued to grow as the Hoosiers continued to hit their shots — and continued to move the ball around. IU finished with 23 assists.

The Illini, however, were held to 37 percent from the field and 7-of-24 from 3-point range.

  1. What a great performance for the Hoosiers tonight. They shot 55 % from the field and hit 56 % of their 3’s. They played very tough defensively holding Illinois to 37% shooting. we outrebounded them 34-30 and we assisted on 23 of our 32 field goal attempts. We had 4 players in double figures with Amanda Cahill recording another double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, she also blocked 5 shots on the night for her best performance in quite a while. Lyndsay Likem played a very strong game although her stats don’t show it. A very neat thing happened tonight with walk on senior Andrea Mize hitting a 3 pointer near the end of the game. All in all, a very nice night for the team! They now go to Iowa which will be a very tough road to hoe. Go Hoosiers!!

  2. Nice to win a game by a big margin again! These girls have a lot of talent and sometimes you see it and sometimes you don’t. Last night we saw it! Also, really enjoyed seeing agler get some minutes tonight along with Muensterman getting a couple. Maura seems really good on the floor, still trying to understand why she gets almost no minutes. And mize, you have a beautiful shot! Congrats ladies. Go hoosiers
