Indiana to wear alternate uniforms during Big Ten Tournament

Indiana basketball is making a slight change to its wardrobe.

The Hoosiers will have three sets of alternate uniforms to choose from when they begin the Big Ten Tournament in two weeks. The new uniforms differ only slightly from the current, traditional set. They feature five stars embroidered just below the waistband of the shorts to represent IU’s five national championships. Beyond the standard white and red uniforms, adidas has introduced a cream option.

Indiana also wore adidas alternates during last year’s conference tournament, however those were a much more visible departure from the new sets.

“We are pleased to once again work with our apparel partner adidas to have a special uniform for the Big Ten Tournament,” IU athletic director Fred Glass said in a statement. “We hope our fans particularly enjoy the throwback cream option as well as the five stars on the back of the trunks representing our five national championships.”

With the jerseys and shorts come new kicks, too. The Hoosiers will wear new colorways of the D. Lillard 1, J. Wall 1, and D. Rose BOOST 5 signature shoes from NBA All-Stars Damian Lillard, John Wall, and Derrick Rose.

  1. Team doesn’t deserve these.

Aside from that; they are better than last year’s alternates. Not a fan of the cream jerseys.

  2. Oh no. We put a tramp stamp on our shorts. To make it worse, it’s a tramp stamp representing our national championships.

  3. Five stars may be clever – but it also very economical. As long as CTC is around – the same shorts can be worn forever ( no extra stars required or ordered ).

  4. Glad they put the stars horizontal… A vertical design could have involved unfair itching of 1987.

  5. Shouldn’t the headline read “alternate uniform”? We surely won’t play more than one game at the B1G tourney.

  6. I am now pulling for INIANA. Who you say. Can’t be Indiana because there is “D” in it. Also there is NO “D” in Blackmon either!!!!
