“We are very excited Ben is joining our soccer program at Indiana,” Yeagley said. “Ben is a proven attacker at the college level, providing our team with a striker who possesses great size and athletic gifts. He can strike a heavy ball with both feet is dangerous with his back to goal.”

Maurey comes to Bloomington from Brown University where he will receive a degree in neuroscience this spring. Maurey plans to work on a master’s degree in biotechnology while at Indiana.

“His mobility and work rate as a striker is excellent will integrate very well into our fluid attack and provide our team with another scoring threat,” Yeagley added. “Ben was an All-Ivy League performer and a 2 year captain at Brown. I am confident Ben will provide an immediate impact next fall.”

Maurey was a three-year performer for the Brown Bears, earning second-team All-Ivy honors in 2014 and serving as team captain his last two seasons. He started a career-best 16 games at forward in 2014, leading the team in goals scored with four and tied for the team lead with 10 points.

In 2013 Maurey appeared in just three matches before earning a medical redshirt with a season-ending injury. As a sophomore in 2012, Maurey was a first-team All-Ivy honoree, appearing in 18 games with 12 starts. He finished as the team’s leading scorer with 12 points, while also leading the team in goals scored with five, four of which were game winners.

As a freshman in 2011, Maurey saw action in 15 matches, assisting on the game-winning goal against St. John’s in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. During his career at Brown the Bears won an Ivy League title and advanced to the second round (2012) and sweet 16 (2011) in the NCAA Tournament.

Maurey is the second Brown player in recent years to continue his post-undergraduate career at Indiana. T.J. Popolizio came to Indiana in 2012 and was a part of the Hoosiers NCAA title team.
