IUWBB: Indiana vs. Illinois

FINAL: Indiana 85, Illinois 58

4:21: Hot shooting continues. Tyra Buss hits a trey from the corner, making the Hoosiers 12-of-22 from 3-point range. The score 76-52, IU.

7:56: Indiana now has a 70-40 lead after a 3-pointer by Karlee McBride. McBride is up to 13 points. Amanda Cahill now has a double-double — her first since New Year’s against Michigan State — at 14 points and 10 boards.

11:58: Indiana has allowed only three points this half. The Hoosiers have forced six second-hand turnovers. Karlee McBride was just ahead of the pack and dropped a ball off to Tyra Buss in transition. 61-34, IU.

15:49: Indiana has expanded its halftime lead, up 55-34 now. IU is 4-of-6 from the field to start the second half, including 1-of-2 from 3. Alexis Gassion hit the trey and now has seven points.

HALFTIME: Indiana 44, Illinois 31

Hoosiers are shooting the lights out on the gym (though the lights at Assembly Hall, amazingly, are still on). IU is 65.4 percent from the field, including 7-of-13 from 3-point range.

Amanda Cahill leads all scorers with 12 points, to go along with five rebounds. Larryn Brooks is 4-of-4 from the field, including 2-of-2 from beyond the arc, to have 10 points.

3:49: Precise passing continues. Tyra Buss enters a ball into the post to Amanda Cahill. With the help coming, Cahill tosses it over to Jenn Anderson. Then Buss dribbles the length of the court and drops one off to Jenn Anderson. It’s 37-26 IU right now.

6:33: Karlee McBride hits her second 3-pointer of the game to give the Hoosiers a 33-23 lead. Nice passing by the Hoosiers, who have eight assists to their four turnovers. But they could use a little more defense. Some easy drives and some open shots for the Illini thus far.

9:27: The Hoosiers are 4-of-6 from downtown thus far, and Karlee McBride, who hit one of those, just switched things up by driving to the basket for a layup. Teri Moren screams “Yes!” as her players approach after Illinois called a 30 second timeout. That’s the kind of offense she likes to see.

11:57: It’s 14-14 now, with Chatrice White hitting a turnaround bucket, plusĀ  a foul and a free throw to come. She was screaming after it went in. Looks like they are going to double the Illini freshman forward (who averages 13.5 points per game).

14:01: It’s 12-10, Illinois, in a game where both teams are shooting well. The Illini are 50 percent from the field, including 2-of-5 from beyond the arc, and the Hoosiers are hitting at a 57 percent clip, including 2-of-3 from behind 3. Two offensive rebounds for Illinois has led to five second-chance points. None for IU.

After an eight-point defeat to Ohio State Sunday, Indiana (13-10, 3-9 Big Ten) plays host to Illinois (12-12, 3-9) at Assembly Hall. Game tips at 7 p.m.
