IU and Virginia agree to home-and-home football series #iufb

Indiana and Virginia will meet again.

IU announced Tuesday that it has agreed to a home-and-home series with Virginia in 2017 and 2018. The Hoosiers will travel to Charlottesville, Va. on Sept. 9, 2017, before hosting the Cavaliers on Sept. 8, 2018.

The two schools have played twice before in 2009 and 2011. Virginia won both of those contests.

“As I have previously noted, like IU, the University of Virginia is one of the premier public universities from one of the top conferences in the country,” IU athletic director Fred Glass said in a statement. “In addition to previously announced series against UConn (2019, 2020), Cincinnati (2021, 2022) and Ball State (2018-2020), this matchup is appealing to our players, alumni and fans.”

This news also gives me an excuse to post this hit by D’Angelo Roberts in the 2011 game, which IU dropped 34-31.

  1. Always good for IU teams to play other schools where the vast majority of the athletes are real students and where education is emphasized.

  2. How about an article a day on football. Can’t be that hard. .Got to keep the interest up. Let us know what everyone is doing, the newcomers etc.
