Indiana gets 6 seed, opens tourney vs. Michigan #iubase

By virtue of Maryland’s come-from-behind win over Northwestern on Saturday afternoon, Indiana will enter this week’s Big Ten Tournament as the No. 6 seed.

That means the Hoosiers will open play against No. 3 seed Michigan on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Eastern. Had the Wildcats held on to beat the Terps, who rallied for four runs in the top of the eighth inning Saturday, IU would have been bumped into the No. 5 seed.

But the No. 6 seed could provide a better path for Indiana, which will avoid matching up with Big Ten champion Illinois for at least the first three days of the tournament.

The winner of IU-Michigan will face the winner of Iowa and Ohio State on Thursday at 6 p.m., while the losers will meet in an elimination game at 10 a.m. Thursday.
