IUWBB: Hoosiers to open Preseason WNIT against Tennessee State

IU will begin the 2015-16 season Nov. 13 against Tennessee State as part of the Preseason WNIT.

This will serve as both the season and home opener for the Hoosiers, as the game will tip at noon at Assembly Hall.

According to the Preseason WNIT bracket, the winner of IU-Tennessee State will face the victor of Chattanooga-McNeese Sate in the second round.

IU is one of 16 teams in the field, including 10 teams that qualified for the postseason in 2014-15. These are the first round matchups, all of which will be played Nov. 13:

Alabama State at Southern Miss, Noon ET
Tennessee State at Indiana, Noon ET
Siena at St. Bonaventure, 5:30 p.m. ET
Jacksonville at South Florida, 6 p.m. ET
McNeese State at Chattanooga, 6:30 p.m. ET
UT Arlington at Baylor, 7 p.m. ET
Dartmouth at Drexel, 7 p.m. ET
Southern Illinois at DePaul, 8 p.m.

Second round games will be played Nov. 15-17, with the semfinals on Nov. 19 and the championship game Nov. 22. All games are hosted at participant venues and every team in the tournament is guaranteed to play three games.

Having also participated in the Preseason WNIT in 1998 and 2008, this will be the third time IU has been a part of the tournament field.

Last season, Tennessee State finished 18-13, losing in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Kentucky. This will be a different team when the Hoosiers see them in November, though; the Tigers lost three out of their top four scorers to graduation.
