Former Hoosiers on ESPNU in Tournament quarters

A quartet of former Indiana University basketball players will take the court in the quarterfinals of The Basketball Tournament in a game televised at 10 p.m. on ESPNU tonight.

The Ants Alumni, featuring former Hoosier Rod Wilmont, will square off with Armored Athlete and former Hoosiers Jordan Hulls, Will Sheehey and Christian Watford in Chicago. The winner advances to next week’s final four in New York with $1 million on the line for the tourney winner.

Wilmont scored four points in four minutes, all on free throws, in the Ants’ 89-84 overtime win against the Notre Dame Fighting Alumni Friday night. The Ants’ roster also includes former Indiana Pacer Stephen Graham and former Wisconsin standout Brian Butch.

Meanwhile, Sheehey, who missed the opening two games last weekend while with the New Orleans Pelicans’ summer league team, led Armored Athlete with 28 points off the bench in 31 minutes in a 96-91 win over the Illinois Hoopville Warriors Friday. Sheehey added five rebounds and three assists, Hulls had 17 points, six assists and four rebounds in 29 minutes, and Watford was scoreless with two rebounds and two steals in 14 minutes.

  1. Great job Will. The Pelicans said good things about his play, especially on defense and for toughness. Great job Jordy who has been consistently good, as he always is. Any word on possible invites for either to NBA training camps? When will Christian learn to bring it hard every night? Disappointing!

  2. Been watching these games today. Interesting potential, if both teams keep winning, the IU guys will end up playing Boeheim’s Army team. Maybe finally a victory?
