No Hoosiers on Big Ten players to watch list #iufb

No Indiana players are included on this year’s Big Ten Preseason Players to Watch List, which was released by the conference prior to Big Ten Media Day on Thursday.

The league recognized 11 players this year, including one more than usual due to a tie in the West Division. Ohio State and Michigan State each have a pair of players represented in the East Division. Spartans quarterback Connor Cook and defensive end Shilique Calhoun are included, as are Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa and running back Ezekiel Elliott. Penn State defensive tackle Anthony Zettel is the fifth player to watch listed in the East.

Nebraska and Wisconsin also placed two players on the West’s list, including Cornhuskers defensive tackle Maliek Collins and receiver De’Mornay Pierson-El. Wisconsin running back Corey Clement and safety Michael Caputo also made the list. Iowa defensive end Drew Ott and Northwestern running back Justin Jackson round out the division’s honorees.

  1. This isn’t a surprise but it is still disappointing. This snubbing in a variety of articles may be a very good thing for the football teams. I go back to my 1995 4A State Championship football team and see a team that was 4-6 with only 1 conference win to finish last have a season no one but the coaches and players thought we could have. I see IU in the same boat as they lost an important player which led to a season that was far worse than their talent was. This year no one expects IU to do well yet the talent on the team indicates they should be much better than people expect. I hope this is a special year for IU football similar to the year IU football had in 1967.

  2. “The league recognized 11 players this player…..”

Mike- I believe you meant to say ‘this year’.
