  1. The shot of Knight, and the ’75 squad strolling along the streets of New York City(Indianapolis Business Journal link above) is probably the coolest shot I’ve ever seen of the legendary Indiana team. Wish I could have a poster of that picture….

  2. I moved from Bloomington to Grand Rapids MI in August of ’75 w/ several others from School of Ed to “intern” in GRPS alternative schools, so had to follow that magical season from afar. The morning after completing the undefeated season and winning the championship, we had a meeting w/ the superintendent of the school system, one of the most conceited persons I have ever met. He opened the meeting eating humble pie.

  3. Buckner must throw up in his mouth a little bit seeing that isolated, Crean induced, Big Ten Championship banner.

Love the quote. For him it was all about winnin; the experience itself and his growth as a man.

A true champion stands in stark contrast against those who pretend and stick their chest out with their medals they pinned there themselves.

  4. ^ The Mighty Quinn is too classy to state the truth but if IU plans to do something special to celebrate that 1976 team this season the first thing on the list would/should be to fire Crean. That would be certain if they had only a modicum of respect in retrospect for that team and certainly the least they could do now.
