Big recruiting week on tap for Indiana #iubb

With the early signing period opening Wednesday, Indiana will have a better feel for the makeup of its 2016 recruiting class by the end of the week.

Frontcourt targets Mario Kegler (Wednesday) and De’Ron Davis (Thursday) will reportedly announce their college commitments this week and the Hoosiers remain contenders for both players.

Davis, a four-star forward ranked No. 38 overall in the 247 Sports Composite, is down to Indiana and Mississippi State. He’s been a priority target for IU since the summer leading into his eighth-grade year, when Davis received a scholarship offer from Indiana coaches after the 2012 Adidas Invitational.

After visiting Starkville, Miss. over the weekend, Davis is set to announce his plans at 5 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, according to multiple reports.

“I really do feel like Indiana has the edge, but the most important thing is how he’s going to be used in his ultimate development,” Davis’ high school coach Danny Fisher told Inside The Hall last Thursday. “Both of these programs have high level coaches who are very good at development and who have done a really good job at showing him how he’s going to be used.”

Kegler, a four-star small forward, is ranked No. 32 overall in the 247 Sports Composite. The Jackson, Miss. native is currently playing at Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, where he’s attracted heavy attention from IU, Mississippi State, Maryland, Arizona State and Baylor. According to SNY.tv’s Adam Zagoria, Kegler will pick between those five on Wednesday. Over at 247 Sports, Kegler’s Crystal Ball predictions are heavily tilted toward Mississippi State.
