IUWBB: Minnesota at Indiana

FINAL: Indiana 93, Minnesota 79. Hoosiers move into a tie for third in the Big Ten, both Minnesota and Indiana at 10-5. Hoosiers remain undefeated at home, 13-0.

2:00 (4Q): Carlie Wagner makes two free throws, with the Gophers in the bonus. IU leads 85-79.

3:48 (4Q): Hoosiers holding onto an 81-73 lead. Rachel Banham scoring in bunches this quarter. Up to 29 points on 9-of-20 shooting.

END OF THIRD: Indiana 68, Minnesota 57.

4:44 (3Q): Hoosiers have expanded their lead to 56-45. Minnesota is 3-of-8 from the floor this quarter. Hoosiers are 5-of-7. You can tell the defensive effort of Gassion — helping hold Banham to 13 points thus far — has Hoosiers pumped. When Tyshee Towner came in to give Gassion a breather, Karlee McBride yelled over to her “She don’t get nothin’. She don’t get nothin’.”

HALFTIME: Indiana 43, Minnesota 36.

Shayne Mullaney leads the Golden Gophers with 11 points. That’s a huge victory for IU at half, because Rachel Banham has nine points on 3-of-9 shooting. Tyra Buss really pushing the pace for the Hoosiers, leading IU with 14 points, to go along with six steals and three steals.

Because of Tyra Buss’ ability to push the ball, the Hoosiers lead in fast break points, 10-2.

END OF FIRST: Minnesota 17, Indiana 15.

The Golden Gophers went on a 9-0 run to end the period after the Hoosiers went up on a 15-8 lead with Jenn Anderson’s three-point play.Run included two three-point plays for Minnesota.

But, Rachel Banham with only four points, 1-of-3 from the field. Alexis Gassion locking her down thus far.

4:50 (1Q): IU out to an early 9-5 lead. Tyra Buss with a key layup, on a hesitation at the free throw line to put the Hoosiers up 5-4. Jenn Anderson scored on one end, then took a charge on another, to push IU’s lead to 7-5. Minnesota is 2-of-7 from the field, and Rachel Banham has missed her only shot.

The Hoosiers look to extend this season’s home unbeaten streak to 13 against the Golden Gophers, starring senior guard Rachel Banham, the Big Ten’s leading scorer.

If Indiana wins this game, it would vault them into the top 3 in the Big Ten standings.
