IUWBB: Nebraska at Indiana

FINAL: Indiana 59, Nebraska 47.

7:11 (4Q): A 6-0 run to start the fourth for IU, including a steal by Tyra Buss under the basket, pushing it upcourt to Alexis Gassion. IU leads, 51-35.

END OF THIRD: Indiana 45, Nebraska 35

Hoosiers maintain their lead, including two really nice bounce passes from Amanda Cahill to Tyra Buss. Buss converted one of them, but they were both nice. Cahill has her seventh double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds (and four assists).

7:06 (3Q): Hoosiers on-point offensively in the third quarter. Amanda Cahill with two buckets down low. Tyra Buss with a stepback 3. IU expands its lead to 39-28.

HALFTIME: Indiana 30, Nebraska 24.

Hoosiers are 11-of-39 from the field at half, but the Huskers are 11-of-30, and they have committed 14 turnovers. A big steal and a push upcourt by Tyra Buss late in the fourth quarter, hitting Alexis Gassion for a 3 to push the lead to six.  Indiana has a 15-4 advantage in points off of turnovers.

Alexis Gassion, at 5-of-15 from the field, leads the Hoosiers with 11 points. Tyra Buss with eight. Amanda Cahill is 2-of-9 from the field for six.

4:53 (2Q): No one shooting well for the Hoosiers. Alexis Gassion is 4-of-12, Jenn Anderson and Tyra Buss 1-of-4, Amanda Cahill is 1-of-5. But, somehow, the Hoosiers are up, 20-18. Nebraska is 8-of-23 from the field, and Jessica Shepard is 3-of-8.

END OF FIRST: Nebraska 13, Indiana 12.

This first quarter very similar to what happened against Iowa. Hoosiers trail by one, not hitting any shots. Hoosiers just have to keep shooting. They are getting some good looks, just not converting — 26 percent for the period.

Nebraska’s seven turnovers have also helped the Hoosiers stay close despite that.

4:36 (1Q): The Hoosiers got out to a 6-0 lead, thanks to a couple of run-outs, the first a push upcourt by Tyra Buss to Alexis Gassion. In the halfcourt, the Hoosiers are feeding Amanda Cahill, who had a career-high 24 points last game. But she has missed some close ones. She is 1-of-4 from the field to start the game.

Indiana will play host to Nebraska (16-6, 7-4 Big Ten), looking to extend their perfection at Assembly Hall this season. The Hoosiers are 10-0 at home.
