There’s much less Selection Sunday suspense surrounding Indiana this year.
After sweating through last year’s proceedings — and eventually seizing a surprise No. 10 seed — the Big Ten champion Hoosiers are only left to wonder about their seed and their travel plans. More specifically, are they indeed due for a No. 4 seed, and will they be left to scurry far from home?
Those questions will be answered this evening when the official bracket pairings are released during CBS’ two-hour Selection Sunday special, beginning at 5:30 p.m. In the meantime, here’s a glance at where some of the more prominent bracketologists see the Hoosiers heading:
— Andy Bottoms of IU fan site The Assembly Call is regarded as one of the top amateur prognosticators in the nation, and in his latest draft, Bottoms slots IU as a No. 4 seed in Des Moines, where it would face No. 13 Fresno State.
— ESPN’s Joe Lunardi also pegs Indiana as a No. 4 seed. In his latest roundup, Lunardi has the Hoosiers in Denver tipping off against No. 13 UNC Wilmington.
— The Hoosiers remain a No. 4 seed in the mind of CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm, who has IU in Oklahoma City taking on No. 13 Northern Iowa.
— Indiana is still holding on to a No. 3 seed, according to Shelby Mast of USA Today. Mast sees the Hoosiers ticketed for Des Moines, where they would line up with Middle Tennessee State.
— College basketball writer Patrick Stevens sees IU as the last of the No. 4 seeds and due for a trip to Spokane.
