Devonte Green signs letter of intent with Indiana #iubb

Indiana has inked the fourth member of its 2016 recruiting class.

Three-star New York guard Devonte Green signed his letter of intent with IU at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Long Island Lutheran coach John Buck told The Herald-Times.

Green, the brother of San Antonio Spurs forward Danny Green, is considered the No. 33 point guard in the nation and the fifth-best prospect in the state of New York, according to 247 Sports. He joins four-star Colorado forward De’Ron Davis, four-star Huntington (W. Va.) Prep combo guard Curtis Jones, and three-star Crown Point shooter Grant Gelon in IU’s incoming recruiting class.

“He has all the tools to be a tremendous player,” Buck said at the time of Green’s commitment in January. “The shots that he’s been making for us since the beginning of the year, there are only a handful of people who can make the type of shots he’s been making and guard the way he does. He’s going to a great place, so it’s all perfect in the end, but I think a lot of schools missed out.”

  1. Devonte Green, Grant Gelon, and Josh Newkirk are 3 totally unknown players to me (yes I know that Newkirk is a Pitt transfer with 2 years college experience, but I have never watched him live or on TV). It will be fun to see them early in November to see what they might contribute to a very strong Hoosier team!
