IU reported to host UMass Lowell, Southeast Missouri State next season #iubb

Indiana’s full men’s basketball schedule may not be clear until later next month, but a few more non-conference opponents are beginning to trickle out.

According to reports, IU will bring UMass Lowell, Liberty and Southeast Missouri State to Assembly Hall during the pre-conference season. The Lowell Sun recently reported the River Hawks’ scheduled trip to Bloomington on Nov. 16.

That game would come five days after the Hoosiers’ season opener against Kansas at Pearl Harbor. UMass Lowell, which began its transition to Division I in 2013, finished 11-18 last season in the America East Conference. According to college basketball statistics website KenPom.com, UMass Lowell ended the year ranked No. 308 out of 351 Division I programs.

IU’s matchup with Liberty is scheduled for Nov. 19, according to a report by CBS Sports. Liberty went 13-19 last season, and was ranked No. 289 by KenPom.com. Three days later, IU is scheduled travel to Fort Wayne to play IPFW.

The Southeast Missourian reported the Redhawks will travel to IU on Dec. 4. Southeast Missouri State won only five games last year, including two against NAIA programs, and finished as the No. 342 ranked team in the nation, according to KenPom.com.

The marquee home game of the non-conference season remains IU’s matchup with North Carolina on Nov. 30 at Assembly Hall. That game was scheduled as part of the annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge. In addition to playing Kansas in Hawaii, Indiana also has neutral court games scheduled against Butler and Louisville at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

It was previously announced that IU will also see Big Ten foes Illinois, Michigan, Penn State, Purdue, Nebraska, Northwestern, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Rutgers visit Assembly Hall next season. Dates for those games are expected to be announced later this summer.

  1. I see that I will be selling some my tickets to these preseason games, these teams aren’t worth the time and expense to drive 200 miles round trip to Bloomington. How much is I U paying these cupcakes to come to Bloomington for blowout IU victory?

  2. Is this story a misprint…? Are you sure these aren’t team batting averages from Kenpom’s new college baseball site?

  3. I almost cried when I heard this level of competition was coming to Assembly Hall …They offered me some Skjodt tissues.

  4. UMass Lowell..? Sounds like the explanation my Asian gastroenterologist gave me for the easy removal of a polyp.

  5. Three cupcakes …get spanked….three cupcakes….get spanked….three cupcakes…get spanked…? Is this a basketball schedule or my childhood?

North Carolina in Assembly doesn’t quite fit the childhood analogy. I was never home-schooled.

  6. Can’t help but think of our Scoop antithesis to a typical Hoosier apologist when a soft schedule arrives to bombard me in the face like a cannon shot of cotton balls….Hope you’re doing well, Double Down.

And the same well-wishes to Tsao, Geoff, NoMendacity, JPat….and all who hold the undaunted spirit of quiet measures of fearlessness and respect once the embodiment of the candy stripes and a storied basketball history. I miss their humor…their honesty…and their voices now far too absent the pages of Scoop.

  7. Jeremy, Mike, Andy, anybody hear from Tsao?

    And……CHET….Chet…you ever check in? Have a Speech/Hearing question …?

    CHETTTTTT.

  8. Chet got mad and left. Good riddance. No idea about Tsao. Here one day and vanished the next. Probably living it up with Joe Madden.

  9. Tough crowd….tough crowd.

Football good…Zander needs more fat. I like these new recruits from Indy….We got one that ND threw away. This is the year we see the defense really show improvement. I heavily anticipate another trip to a Cheetos Bowl. 2 back sets…hut-hut. Huddle up. slot right….shotgun formation. 3-stars can evolve into 4-stars in a mater of weeks…or months…or years. With a new contract, Wilson will coach like a man with a new contract.
No excuses for empty seats this year. The seats are freshly painted and the paint is dry. They are perfectly safe to sit in. Hut-hut. Fill the gaps…Anticipate rather than just react. 4-3…3-4….Corners…Special teams shouldn’t be discounted. When I was a coach, I took my team to four state finals….This was after the previous leadership had zero winning seasons…I rebuilt from basically turning a golf team into football players..It just takes determination and time…Belief. It all begins with belief. Clipping….Illegal motion. Glass has put the right man in charge. Possible 7 wins…maybe 8 if a few things go our way.
I know my sh___t …Don’t question my pigskin expertise. Hike Miller, Mike Miller.
