Crawford earns another weekly honor

For the second time this season, Jonathan Crawford is Indiana’s defensive player of the week.

The sophomore safety made seven tackles, intercepted a tipped pass and broke up another throw in the 27-22 loss to the Cornhuskers. It was the fifth career interception for Crawford, who has been responsible for seven takeaways in 19 career games.

Crawford also earned defensive honors after recording seven tackles and breaking up a pass against Wake Forest last month.

“(He was) very productive,” Wilson said.

Receiver Mitchell Paige earned IU’s offensive nod after making nine catches for 101 yards and safety Chase Dutra was named the team’s top special teams contributor after he led the charge to block a punt during Saturday’s second quarter.

“(He’s) doing well,” Wilson said, “playing, splitting time at safety as a veteran, but doing great in the special team.”

Wilson also recognized quarterback Zander Diamont, running back Alex Rodriguez, receiver Taysir Mack and linebacker Kenny Arnold for their scout team contributions.
