IUWBB: Villanova at Indiana, WNIT

FINAL: Villanova 69, Indiana 57. Wildcats have won all four games of theirs on the road and move on to play Michigan in the semis.

48.0 (4Q): ‘Nova up, 61-55. Amber Deane just hit a 3. 

4:05 (4Q): ‘Nova hit a 3 to make it 56-47, but Amber Deane with a big 3 to pull it back to six.

END OF THIRD: Villanova 47, Indiana 40. IU went a little over three minutes without scoring. Amanda Cahill was 2-of-7 from the floor before that post touch, score. A 10-6 quarter for IU.

4:33 (3Q): Hoosiers have adjusted to Villanova’s five-out, bringing in Amber Deane to start the second half. She has added some pop, scoring six points. She scored on a drive, spinning in the lane, to cut it to 45-38. 

HALFTIME: Indiana 41, Villanova 30. Hoosiers have a hill to climb to try and advance to the semis of the WNIT. Wildcasts are 10-of-17 from 3-point range, 15-of-28 overall. Jannah Tucker leads the ‘Cats with 13 points, including four 3s. Adrianna Hahn has three 3s and 11 points.

Tyra Buss leads the Hoosiers with 13 points. Amanda Cahill has three points on 1-of-5 shooting. As a team, IU is shooting 38 percent, and 3-of-11 from 3-point range.

6:25 (2Q): Villanova is a blistering 13-of-20 from the field. IU cannot get a hand in their face defensively. It’s 34-23, ‘Nova. 

END OF FIRST: Villanova 25, Indiana 21. Back and forth at end of that quarter. Jannah Tucker hit a 3. Buss hit one. Then Adrianna Hahn drives. Whew.

Villanova was 7-of-11 from 3 in that quarter. Somehow, though, Hoosiers are within four.

5:00 (1Q): ‘Nova hits 30 percent of its 3s, on the year. The Wildcats have hit 4-of-7 thus far. And they lead, 12-11. Jannah Tucker has hit 2-of-4, and she’s a 26 percent 3-point shooter. Hoosiers are going to have to adjust and close out.

Villanova (19-14) has won three road games to get to Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Indiana (23-10) will try and break the Wildcats’ road winning streak. Tip is at 2 p.m.
