Knight expected to play, Stepaniak healing

Indiana’s offensive line should receive a boost this weekend.

Right tackle Brandon Knight is expected to make his season debut after missing much of fall camp and IU’s first two regular season games with an unspecified injury. Knight traveled with the team for the Sept. 9 game at Virginia and warmed up prior to the game, but did not play.

“I think that he’s progressed well, and I fully expect him to play and get his first action,” IU coach Tom Allen said. “So he’s ready to go.”

Right guard Simon Stepaniak got banged up at Virginia and dealt with a minor injury issue during the past week, according to Allen. Despite this, Stepaniak is also expected to play.

“He should be good to go,” Allen said. So feel good about his health. The rest of the guys, there wasn’t anything serious. It was just were some dings here and there that just allowed us a few extra days to get some rest on some guys. Our first game was a physical, physical game, and even the Virginia game, they are a physical football team. … It’s good to get a little rest.”
