Morgan dealing with ankle sprain

Indiana could be without Juwan Morgan this week at Seton Hall.

The junior forward sprained his ankle early in Sunday’s win against Howard. After trying to contest a shot in front of the IU bench, Morgan got tangled up with a Howard player and came up limping. He did not return.

“As far as I know he’s out until further (notice),” IU coach Archie Miller said. “I don’t know if he’ll play on Wednesday. I didn’t get any report. We’ll probably get something later in the week. He turned his ankle, I think they tried to re-tape him, and he said he couldn’t play. We’ll play it by ear.”

Losing Morgan on Sunday was another blow for a frontcourt that was already dealing without senior forward Collin Hartman, who could miss a couple weeks after suffering a groin injury prior to Friday’s season opener.

It’s especially concerning given the matchup Wednesday at No. 23 Seton Hall, which boasts a deep and talented stable of forwards.

Center Angel Delgado is a Big East Player of the Year candidate after posting 27 double-doubles last season. He’s surrounded by frontcourt sidekicks Desi Rodriguez, Michael Nzei and Ismael Sanogo. Rodriguez averaged 15.7 points and 5.2 rebounds last year.

  1. His “hometown” is Gary, Indiana. I believe his parents transplanted him for prep school. He may also want to play for Bryce “One Shining Moment” Drew(originally of Valpo h.s./Valpo U……Valpo coaches can make any bricklayer into a pure shooter).
