A look at Indiana’s 2018-19 Big Ten matchups

Good news for Indiana.

It won’t have to play at Wisconsin next year.

On Thursday, IU announced its Big Ten Matchups for the 2018-19 season, which will see the conference expand to a new 20-game league schedule. For Indiana, that means it will see seven opponents both home and away, three only on the road and three only in Bloomington.

Wisconsin falls in the latter category. That appears to be a good thing for IU, which has dropped 16 consecutive games at the Kohl Center. The Hoosiers will also host single-play matchups with Nebraska and Ohio State.

Indiana will have single-play road matchups at Maryland, Minnesota and Penn State.

The Hoosiers will face Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Purdue and Rutgers both on the road and at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

It will be the first year that the IU-Purdue rivalry is protected, meaning the two in-state schools are guaranteed to play both in Bloomington and West Lafayette. This marks only the the third time in the last six years that the Hoosiers and Boilermakers are set to play twice in the regular season.
