Hoosiers drop in weekly polls

Indiana’s first losing weekend of the season led to a fall in the national polls on Monday.

After dropping two of their three games at Ohio State, the Hoosiers fell six spots to No. 18 in Baseball America’s latest top 25. At D1Baseball.com, where IU was ranked as high as No. 8 last week, the Hoosiers dropped to No. 15.

Perfect Game slotted IU two spots lower at No. 12 and the USA Today Coaches Poll dropped the Hoosiers six spots to No. 16. Indiana saw its biggest fall in the Collegiate Baseball top 30 rankings, where it dropped 11 spots to No. 27.

The Hoosiers start this week at No. 26 in the RPI.

The Hoosiers play four games this week, including a midweek non-conference game at Purdue on Wednesday night. That game, which will not count toward the Big Ten standings, will be televised on ESPNU. IU returns home to host Illinois for a three-game series beginning Friday evening.
