Hoosiers ranked as high as No. 8 this week

The Hoosiers have yet to lose a weekend series this season.

Their latest sweep propelled their continued climb in the national rankings.

Indiana opens the week ranked as high as No. 8 in D1Baseball.com’s top 25, the Hoosiers’ highest appearance of the season. It’s a jump of two spots for IU, which was slotted at No. 10 in D1Baseball’s previous two polls.

IU made its biggest jump of the week at Baseball America, where the Hoosiers leapt four spots to No. 12. The Hoosiers are ranked No. 10 in both the Perfect Game top 25 and the USA Today Coaches poll.

The Hoosiers fell one spot to No. 16 in Collegiate Baseball’s weekly top 30.

Indiana won all four games played last week, punctuating the slate with a 22-1 blowout victory over Northwestern. IU opens the new week at No. 26 in the RPI.

A big week awaits the Hoosiers, who face Notre Dame in a neutral site matchup at Victory Field on Tuesday at 7 p.m. They’ll return home Wednesday to host Ball State at 6:05 p.m.

Indiana will play its second Big Ten road series next weekend, traveling to Ohio State for a three-game set. The Buckeyes, winners of four in a row and seven of their last nine, are coming off a weekend sweep of Penn State.
