Sudfeld enjoying 1st-Team reps with Eagles

Nate Sudfeld already has a Super Bowl ring.

Now the former Indiana quarterback is getting his shot with the Philadelphia Eagles’ first team offense.

With Nick Foles nursing “upper-body soreness” and Carson Wentz limited in his return from an ACL tear, Sudfeld is getting the bulk of the snaps as Philadelphia prepares for its preseason opener on Thursday night, according to Zach Berman of philly.com.

While Sudfeld’s position-mates ease their way back, Eagles coach Doug Pederson said he’s eager to tap into the former Hoosier’s upside:

“A great opportunity for him to really show what he can do; solidify himself in this league as a quarterback, obviously a backup on our roster,” Pederson said last week. “But the more time he gets under center, the more experience he’s going to gain. These games are going to be valuable for him. He’s one of the players I’m excited to watch.”

Sudfeld, who graduated as IU’s career leader in passing touchdowns (61), passing yardage (7,879) and 350-yard games (six), has one game of NFL regular season experience. He completed 19 of his 23 passes for 134 yards against Dallas in the Eagles’ 2017 regular season finale.
