Miller to be IU’s honorary captain for Michigan State game

Prior to Saturday’s game against No. 24 Michigan State, IU football coach Tom Allen will be joined on the field by a special guest.

Allen reported on his weekly radio show that Indiana basketball coach Archie Miller has accepted his invitation to be the Hoosiers’ honorary captain for their tilt against the Spartans.

“He’s gonna be with me,” Allen said. “We’re gonna run out together and go out for the coin toss.”

Miller won’t be the only IU head coach joining Allen’s team on Saturday. Allen said he’s also invited coaches from the rest of the department’s 22 sports to join the team before and during the game.

“We’ve invited them to be with us on the sideline,” Allen said. “They’re gonna be down there with us in the tunnel when the team comes out. I just want to involve all the other sports and make them feel a part of this. It’s gonna be a special night.”

  1. They should dig a trench on the sideline ….so nobody gets hurt. Call it the “Archie Bunker.”
