Franklin officially signs with Indiana

Armaan Franklin is officially a Hoosier.

The Cathedral guard signed his National Letter of Intent with Indiana on Wednesday after committing to IU over Purdue in September.

“Armaan is tremendous young man, who will fit in perfectly on and off the court and in the classroom,” IU coach Archie Miller said in a statement. “He is a self-made player who has gotten better every step of his progression, he’s got great size and competitiveness as a guard. He is shooting it right now as well as he ever has and brings positive energy to the locker room on Day 1.”

Franklin averaged 23.0 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists as a junior last season, helping Cathedral to a 19-5 record.

He’s considered the No. 6 player in the state of Indiana and the No. 25 shooting guard nationally, according to the 247 Sports Composite.

“Our approach to development is the same as his and that’s what’s going allow him reach his full potential,” Miller said. “It’s really important to our program that Armaan chose IU, Indianapolis is a big part of the tradition here and he will add to it throughout his career.”

With Franklin signing, Indiana officially has one remaining open scholarship for next season. At least one more could open, with freshman Romeo Langford a potential one-and-done departure.

  1. I’m hoping Romeo stays through his sophomore season, but I guess that will be determined by how well he plays this year and where the NBA vultures (I mean experts) project him to go in next year’s draft. If you’re not drafted in the top ten, it might be better to stay another year, get stronger and polish your skills. Regardless, I’m hoping Archie has his eye on another BIG. He’s going to need one soon.

  2. The floodgates are opening for in-state talent. Criminal that the state of Indiana was forgotten in favor of coddling raw East Coast talent given long leashes to help Galileo with his NBA resume.
