Hunter rejoins Indiana’s team

Jerome Hunter is back in Bloomington, though a timeframe for his recovery has yet to be determined.

The freshman wing rejoined Indiana’s team this week after undergoing surgery to address a “lower body condition” on Nov. 14 at the Cleveland Clinic.

Hunter, who remained hospitalized in Ohio until earlier this week, is now ready to continue his rehabilitation under the team’s watch.

“Jerome is back,” IU coach Archie Miller said after Friday’s win over UC Davis. “He wasn’t feeling really well tonight, so he didn’t come to the game. But he was in the facility and he is back on campus, yeah.”

Details on Hunter’s injury have been scarce. In announcing Hunter’s surgery on a “lower body condition” in a press release issued last week, Indiana declined to disclose specifics, citing the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

Because he’s yet to appear in a game for the Hoosiers this season, Hunter still has the option to take a redshirt year.

Miller said Friday that he’s still unsure how long it will take Hunter to recover.

“He’s had a couple procedures on his leg and I think we’ve got it down to where he’s at right now, but it’s still wait-and-see on recovery,” Miller said. “He’s had a tough last week, but everything is indefinite right now in terms of like timetable or what we’re doing or when he can come back.”
