Gameday central: Indiana at Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa — A trying season of Indiana basketball continues tonight in the Hawkeye State.

The Hoosiers have lost 11 of their past 12 games entering their 9 p.m. contest against No. 21 Iowa, which saw a four-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday against Maryland.

IU coach Archie Miller said he was pleased with the effort level in Tuesday’s 48-46 loss to Purdue. Now, the question is whether Indiana can replicate that effort in front of a sellout crowd at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Iowa won the first meeting, 77-72, on Feb. 7 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

“They made some tremendous opportune basket at times that were deflating in the game — under five seconds on the shot clock, under two on the shot clock,” Miller said. “They really came up big making some shots. We didn’t take care of the ball as well as we needed to and it changed the course of that game at the end of the first half. So they played with a lead and we were able to get it within one possession, but they made some really key plays down the stretch.

“So we are going to have to be better in a lot of areas going over there on Friday night. In particular, being able to play hard without fouling. Foul trouble was a problem in that first game. Juwan (Morgan) wasn’t able to stay in. And then we are going to have to do a better job of taking care of it against their (changing) defenses. Obviously we understand how good they are, especially in such a hard place to play.”

  1. I agree with Chet, it is grossly inappropriate to call for a kid’s scholarship to be revoked in a public forum. Go to an IU home game and start yelling that comment from the stands and see how it goes over inside Assembly Hall. You wouldn’t do it there, so you should not do it on The Hoosier Sports Report.

    1. Po as I’ve stated to you before, I do as I damn well please. I’ve been conservatively in AH 150+ times and I have heard much worse with no repercussions. You blow and go with the direction of the wind.

  2. On the day of Green’s suspension….

And the hits just keep on coming.

Anybody want to bet that Green won’t be on next year’s roster?

That’s probably a safe bet. I don’t know enough to take a position but there have been a $hit ton of people who were counting on him being gone.

I don’t really see a ton of difference…Derogatory remarks are proof nobody is perfect here. In my experience, I believe vesuvius13 to really be the only contributor on Scoop to never go down such a road.
