Gameday central: Indiana at Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Indiana is sliding into the Breslin Center on a seven-game losing streak.

Can the Hoosiers avoid an eighth consecutive loss? The odds aren’t in their favor against No. 6 Michigan State.

IU opened as a 14.5-point underdog in Vegas, while KenPom.com gives Indiana merely a seven percent chance of victory. Michigan State has won all 10 of its home games this season, beating Big Ten opponents by an average margin of 20 points.

The Hoosiers have lost 21 of their past 22 games in East Lansing.

“They’re a terrific team, one of the top teams in America,” IU coach Archie Miller said. “They have if not the player of the year in the conference, then at least a first-team All-American candidate in Cassius Winston. He runs the show as well as any point guard could possibly run a show. They have great role definition. They get unbelievable contributions from their role guys. It doesn’t always show up in the score box all the time.”

Although Zach McRoberts has officially been ruled out for Saturday’s contest, the Hoosiers will get a few extra bodies back on their bench. Devonte Green is available after missing the past three games due to a suspension. De’Ron Davis is also available, rejoining the team after sitting the past three contests with an ankle injury.

  1. IU played about as good as you expect coupled with poor ft shooting by MSU = IU players confident win. Battered and injured IU matched MSU physically and DD stepped up. RL played well. Confidence.
The other notable thing after game AM though very proud and happy put things in perspective. He mentioned players made plays, competed, played hard. He mentioned rebounds, offensive rebounds, and passing and guys feeling good for one another. AM kept perspective by saying IU was a little fortunate by MSU missing so many free throws. In IU situation on road against MSU. Great win.

  2. IU has lost enough games this year by poor foul shooting it’s their turn to win because of it.

  3. Though he fouled out, Forrester contributed considerably. Sort of amazed me how well he played for such little minutes this year. This game was a great confidence boost for a lot of role players ….who truly stepped up.
