Gorski named Big Ten Player of the Week

A torrid stretch at the plate has earned Matt Gorski Big Ten Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday.

Gorski has been one of the league’s toughest outs of late, and is coming off a big week against Ball State and Michigan State. The junior from Fishers hit .529 on the week with nine hits and 10 RBIs, including a grand slam against Ball State. He also walked four times and stole a base.

For the week, Gorski hit two home runs and two doubles, posting a .619 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage.

Gorski finished the week on a seven-game hitting streak, during which he’s gone 13-for-31 (.419) with five extra-base hits and 12 RBIs. For the season, Gorski is batting .297 with 10 home runs, 37 RBIs and a team-high 39 runs and 14 stolen bases.
