Hoosiers land three-star athlete Swinton

Indiana has landed a commit from three-star athlete Javon Swinton from Virginia.

Swinton, from Stafford, Va., had offers from Virginia, South Carolina and Syracuse, among others. Not only is Swinton an outstanding defensive back and receiver, he averaged 27 points per game on the basketball court as a junior, according to The Virginian-Pilot.

The paper, which ranked him as the No. 13 football prospect in the state, called him “a do-everything receiver and all-purpose back for North Stafford.”

Swinton is the Hoosiers’ 12th commit for 2020 thus far. Below are his junior season highlights on the football field. Below that, we’ve posted his basketball reel, as well.

  1. Another good addition to IUFB’s 2020 class. The shows signs of being a play maker on defense and offense. If he plays corner he has good size to develop and based on the increased size our current players show he will be ripped in a couple of years.

  2. Did anyone watch those highlights? Not sure about the talent level he played against but this kid looks like he can flat out play. For some reason Rivals has him listed as a RB but he looks like a WR with DB being a fall back option to me. Looks like we stole one out of Virginia’s back yard here.

  3. He is going to be a DB for IU and he grew from 160 lbs as a jr to 180 lbs heading into his sr year. His talent looks like he is very good player with other power 5 teams. He listened to our players and choose IU over the other teams, if Indiana top recruits did we would get more of them. I am okay with getting players from other states as they gain more from Spring practices. Keep bringing in hungry players [as Jones called them] for the 2020 class.
