Make it seven Hoosiers on preseason watch lists.
Indiana punter Haydon Whitehead was the latest Friday, when it was announced he had been added to the Ray Guy Award watch list for the third-straight season.
That makes for two IU specialists on watch lists, with kicker Logan Justus already named to the Lou Groza. Whitehead has averaged 40.4 yards per punt in two seasons in Bloomington. The Australian placed a third of his kicks inside the 20 last season.
A complete list of candidates for the award will not be released until Nov. 5. Later that month, the Ray Guy committee will select 10 semifinalists, which will be announced Nov. 19.
Here’s an updated list of Hoosiers on watch lists heading into Saturday’s opener with Ball State:
Maxwell Award – Stevie Scott III
Allstate Good Works Team – Nick Westbrook
Doak Walker Award – Stevie Scott III
Rimington Trophy – Hunter Littlejohn
Outland Trophy – Coy Cronk
Lou Groza Award – Logan Justus
Wuerffel Trophy – Nick Westbrook
Unitas Golden Arm Award – Peyton Ramsey
Ray Guy Award – Haydon Whitehead
Just list players not on some list.
Whoever has the best stats will win the award whether he is on that list or not.
That’s kind of my point.
PUke goes down in Reno.
POTMFB!!!
I turned the Purdue game off at half because PUKE had that game well in hand. Then they give up 17 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.
That’s beautiful, as long as IU doesn’t suffer the same fate today.
