IU women ranked 24th in preseason poll

For the second time in three seasons, the Indiana women’s basketball team cracked the Associated Press preseason poll.

The Hoosiers checked in at No. 24 when the poll was released on Wednesday afternoon, one of five Big Ten teams in the top 25.

IU was ranked No. 23 in the 2017 preseason poll, when it was coming off a second-round NCAA Tournament appearance, just as the Hoosiers are this year.

Indiana was last ranked in January last season, appearing at No. 25 for two weeks.

It is the second poll this week to rank IU 24th, following the espnW.com rankings earlier this week.

The Hoosiers open exhibition play on Sunday at 2 p.m. against McKendree at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, then tip off the regular season on Nov. 7 by hosting Mount St. Mary’s at 7 p.m.
