IU’s Justus a Groza semifinalist

Indiana senior kicker Logan Justus is in the running for yet another award.

The same week he was added to a list of candidates for the Burlsworth Trophy, honoring college football’s best walk-ons, Justus was named a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award, which honors the nation’s top kicker.

Justus, who was a semifinalist last year, as well, has made all 12 of his field goal attempts this season. The fifth-year senior and former walk-on from McCordsville, Ind., is one of 20 semifinalists for the Groza Award to be voted on by a panel of more than 100 coaches, SIDs, media members, former Groza Finalists and current NFL kickers. They will select three finalists for the award, which will be announced Nov. 25.

Justus is one of three semifinalists from last year to be nominated again, along with Georgia senior Rodrigo Blankenship and Arkansas senior Connor Limpert.

For his career, the left-footer Justus is 27-of-30 on field goals and 66-of-68 on PATs. His 27 field goals and 66 extra points are ninth on the program’s all-time list.
