IU’s Richardson Co-B1G Player of Week

Indiana sophomore outfielder Grant Richardson was named the Big Ten Co-Player of the Week on Monday.

Richardson shared the weekly honor with Michigan State’s Bryce Kelley, while Michigan’s Steven Hajjar was named the pitcher and rookie of the week.

During the Hoosiers’ season-opening series at No. 11 LSU, Richardson was 6-for-12 at the plate with five runs batted in, four runs scored, a double, a triple, a home run and a stolen base.

The Fishers native capped things off in IU’s 7-2 victory in the finale by going 2-for-3 with four RBIs.

Indiana baseball is back in action this weekend in Mobile, Alabama, against Tennessee-Martin, South Alabama and Siena.

  1. 1-2 vs LSU on the road is ok. Now 3 more games in the South. It is baseball so you never win them all. If IU can win 2 of 3, they will be 3-3, on the road, in the South. Not a bad beginning for a B1G middle of the pack team.

  2. I do like their pre-season schedule. They are playing 6-7 ranked teams before starting Big Ten play. LSU is really good and should be in Omaha by the end of the year.
